Canadian Society of Hospital Pharmacists
CSHP is an organization that connects, advocates, and supports hospital pharmacists on a national and local level. Our Alberta branch consists of both practicing pharmacists and students alike.
Some of the events and resources offered for students include:
- Seminars on medication safety, mental health and drug information
- Support to prepare you for hospital pharmacy, residencies, and more!
- Networking opportunities with current hospital pharmacists
Overall, we’re a group that strives to unite people interested in hospital pharmacy, and promote our roles in a clinical setting.
CSHP Committees
There are various CSHP Committees that students can join. A place on any of these committees requires a current CSHP membership verified by the CSHP representative (which can be obtained from the CSHP website). Positions are applied for and voted on by the CSHP Student Committee Selection Panel. 7-8 student members from any year are selected annually. Committees include:
Awards:
- Contact nominees and nominators regarding their award applications
Education:
- Organize the Hospital Residency Information Night and promote other educational events.
Research:
- Perform abstract reviews for the CSHP Alberta Branch Symposium (CABS) and Banff Seminar
Membership:
- Organize and promote CSHP student membership drive
Communication:
- Showcase writing skills in the PQ+2, CSHP-AB newsletter, and CSHP-AB student Facebook page
Advocacy/PAM:
- Coordinate and promote an educational event to occur during Pharmacists Awareness Month (PAM) in order to increase awareness for hospital pharmacy
