Professional Development Week

What is PDW?

Professional Development Week (PDW) is an annual conference hosted by a different Canadian pharmacy school. This four-day conference brings pharmacy students together from across the country to network, apply their practical skills and expand their knowledge on various health care topics. Attending PDW is most definitely a memorable experience for students to learn outside of the classroom, establish professional relationships with other future pharmacists and become enriched by the culture of the host city!

PDW is also an opportunity to meet CAPSI’s National General Council members in person, participate and run in the elections for executive council positions, compete in professional development competitions and participate in the “Pharmafacts” bowl, and meet inspirational pharmacists who are leaders in their field.

How do you decide which schools hosts PDW?

Schools host every 10 years based on this order:

  • Université de Montréal
  • University of Saskatchewan
  • University of Toronto
  • Dalhousie University
  • University of British Columbia
  • Université Laval
  • University of Manitoba
  • University of Waterloo
  • Memorial University of Newfoundland
  • University of Alberta.

PDW will continue at the University of Saskatchewan in January 2023

In 2020, PDW was held in Montreal. In 2021, PDW was supposed to be held in Saskatchewan. Due to the pandemic, the PDW conference for 2021 is cancelled and instead Saskatchewan will host in 2023 after U of T.
