Hey, amazing soon-to-be pharmacists!

My name is Makayla and I am a third year pharmacy student in the graduating class of 2025 (halfway there!). I call myself a BC girl since I grew up in Kamloops, but technically I was born in Lacombe.
However, if you call me a ‘Berta girl, we can’t be friends. Just kidding, sort of. I completed three years of a Bachelor of Science at Thompson Rivers University before selecting the University of Alberta as my pharmacy school of choice. I had the option of going to Vancouver as well, but this choice has proven to be a blessing. I’ve grown my independence and surrounded myself with friends who make my heart full. I have truly found my people and I can’t wait to see my bright future form.

In my free time, which I don’t have much of, you can find me in the gym lifting 3 times my body weight, in the car/shower/Med Sci stairwell singing my heart out, or at home drinking tea and doing puzzles. I grew
up playing soccer as well, so I try my absolute best to join any soccer or futsal intramural teams to take a break from reality.

It is an absolute pleasure to be able to capture the memories that we will be making throughout the 2023-2024 school year. I believe that this position will pull me out of my comfort zone in terms of interacting with other human beings. I can’t wait to meet you and, hopefully, catch your best sides. I can’t wait to turn these moments into photos that will last a lifetime.

P.S. I know school is important, but don’t forget to put the books down and live a little every once in a
while.
