Second Year Class Representative: Gauhar Ali

Hello Everyone,

My name is Gauhar Ali (he/him), and I am incredibly grateful to be the 2nd Year Class Representative for the Class of 2026!

Originally from Karachi, Pakistan, I’ve been a proud Canadian for over two decades. I have had the privilege of studying at the University of Alberta, where I completed both my undergraduate and graduate studies before beginning pharmacy school. When I’m not studying, you’ll likely find me at Costco, sipping espresso, or bird-watching!

I’ve had the honor of serving in leadership roles, including my recent time as President of the Oncology Graduate Student Association in 2021. Through these experiences, I’ve been fortunate to develop skills in communication and advocacy. These experiences have shown me the importance of bridging the gap between student concerns and faculty perspectives. I’m committed to utilizing these skills to ensure our voices are heard, and our needs are understood and met.

One of my primary goals is to enhance communication between students and course coordinators. Transparent channels are vital for addressing student needs effectively. I’m dedicated to establishing pathways that connect us with faculty members, ensuring that our input significantly shapes our academic journey.

Promoting our well-being is at the core of my goals. I understand the pressures of academic life and am passionate about providing us with the resources and support needed for our success. Another significant aspect for me is fostering a strong sense of community within our class. I genuinely believe in the strength of relationships among peers for creating a supportive academic environment. Collaborating with our social representative, my aim is to assist in organizing events that foster unity, wellness, and camaraderie.

I’m truly humbled by the opportunity to serve in this role. Feel free to reach out to me via email (gauhar@ualberta.ca), connect on Facebook, or flag me down in the halls!
